Women’s Self-Defense Workshop

Details:
During this quarterly 2-hour workshop, participants will learn how to recognize possible threats, avoid vulnerable situations, develop safe habits, and present themselves as strong adversaries. They will learn skills to distance themselves from an attacker and to effectively fight back.

No prior experience is needed. Previous workshop participants are encouraged to attend. Classes are open to women ages 12 and older. Participants under age 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult female.

Lead Instructor, Tina Tappouni:
Tina is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt competitor and instructor as well as a registered nurse. Her past work as a Sexual Assault Resource Center advocate, motivated her to implement her experience as a martial artist to teach self defense. Tina has worked with numerous organizations in the Portland-Metro area over the past decade, including Portland Community College and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Department, teaching practical self defense skills to women of all ages.
