Where are we and where have we been? The Impact ship is sailing strong. Our community is made up of many facets and forces. Some who come to recreate with us, some who come to stretch their competitive muscles, all who come to grow their world.
Over the last few months, there have been several opportunities for our athletes to test their skills: Grappling X held its first event in Portland, Las Vegas Open, Texas Europa Jiu Jitsu tournament, Valhalla Gala Kickboxing event, Revolution BJJ Tourney in Seattle, and FCFF MMA at Seven Feathers. At every opportunity, our competitors shined. Gracious in victory and gracious in defeat. You who compete set a tone for us. We see your struggle and success and we are inspired.
The ego causes many of us to avoid the exposures of life, the risk seems too great. You see, the true challenge is not the event, but the willingness to enter the event. Facing a challenge allows us to find our confidence and to know ourselves. Be bold, drive your life!
More opportunities are on the horizon, including the Oregon Open and US Open in October. Shall we take a drive together?

Jiu Jitsu athletes don’t have to travel great distances to experience a huge tournament. There’s one right here in Oregon!
Oregon Open is a traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament where matches are decided by highest score, submission, or referee stoppage. Both the Gi and No-Gi events follow a single elimination format but with consolation matches. Every effort is made to provide at least two matches for all competitors.
In 2010, Oregon Open hosted 590 athletes. We expect to see the same this year. This means good size brackets, the opportunity for masters divisions, and a ton of great Jiu Jitsu. With more than seven years of tournaments held within the subleague.com family, Oregon Open is excited to once again put on a professional, smooth, timely, and fun event.
Registration closes on Monday, September 26. Complete details can be found at subleague.com.
