1. Results from EWC Fights on Saturday

Doug Steinbach won his fight at the EWC on Saturday night in Salem. It went the distance, but he got the decision. According to Coaches Michael Chapman and Daryl Cutler, Doug’s fight was the best fight of the night from a technical / overall game perspective and Doug fought a textbook match … sticking to his game plan and control his challenging opponent.

GREAT JOB Doug and the IMPACT Team.

Special Thanks goes to Coaches Chapman and Cutler, and corner man / medic Richard Fowler.

4. Cubs’ Club Numbers are Blowing Up!

We had a HUGE Cubs Day on Wednesday,

Both classes were full of FUN and GREAT energy! ! !

Stay tune — we are looking to expand the number of Cubs’ Club classes we offer - more details soon!

5. Newberg Gym Gets Upgrades

NEWBERG GYM UPGRADES
If you haven’t been out to the Newberg lately, then you may have missed some
of the new enhancements — they have padded out the east wall of the gym and extended the mats!
Translation - they just keep getting better and better!
They have turned their gym into a smokin’ training room.

Way to go guys! Keep up the GREAT work!

In other NEWBERG News:
1. On Tuesday, March 18, 2008, Newberg IMPACT will be starting KIDS classes. Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-5:00pm. Price will be a one-time $149 initiation fee and $85 per month. Discounts are available for multiple family member accounts ($10 off per month for the second family member, $20 off for the third and the fourth family member is free). This class will run on a six month trial period (March thru August) to see if we can support this new program. Bryan “The Beast” Marugg will be the head coach of this class, with other coaches acting as assistant coaches.

2. Congratulations goes out to Peter Kavanaugh! Peter was promoted to Blue Belt on Thursday, February 14th! It is definitely well deserved. Peter has been training off and on for about 8 years, taking time off to raise his family, play soccer and pay the bills. Peter’s game has definitely improved in the past few weeks working closely with Coach Matt. Although Peter says he would rather just keep getting stripes on his white belt, we all know that he is super excited to be promoted. Congratulations again!

6. Well Deserved Blue Belt Awarded on Saturday!

Brian Henrichs received a well-deserved Blue Belt this last Saturday at IMPACT.

Brian began training in BJJ last fall as a part of the PSU BJJ class. This fall he made his way to Beaverton IMPACT and has been training consistently 3 - 4 times a week since. Besides possessing a great aptitude for grappling and body presence, Brian has spent LOTS of time drilling and workshopping his game.

GREAT JOB BRIAN! SNAP! ! !

The Saturday Crew
was PUMPED to help Brian Henrichs
celebrate his achievement - a well-deserved Blue Belt!

7. Seminar Pictures: Rafael Lovato Jr. in Seaside

Rafael Lovato Jr. SeminarThe 2007 World’s Heavyweight
Jiu Jitsu Champion

On Saturday, February 16, Rafael Lovato Jr. was in Seaside, Oregon, doing a seminar to celebrate the opening of the Seaside BJJ Academy.

IMPACT’s Tom Oberhue, Dave Rubin, and Eric Dorsett cruised down to take privates with the World Champion and attend his seminar.

It was FANTASTIC training!

And huge congrats to Nate and Zach Adamson for opening up their new academy in Seaside. It is a great place to training if you’re down at the coast — super vibe and good rolls.
