1. Results from RISE MMA Show - Lukesh Wins Championship Belt / Long Dominates

Impact Fight Fans who were able to make the trip down to the Lane County Fairgrounds in Eugene on Saturday were treated to another great show from the”Rise Fighting Championships”. Our two warriors, Josh Long and Andy Lukesh, came ready to rumble. The event ran smooth and the card was well matched.

First out for our team was Josh Long. Josh was matched with a young fighter who trained both at a Thai boxing gym and at an excellent BJJ school in Eugene. Josh has developed a very strong and aggressive BJJ game, and his fight plan was to go on a submission hunt. The fight started strong with both fighters meeting in the middle of the ring. Josh followed his plan and worked his way into a clinch. After several take down attempts, Josh aggressively jumped guard and pulled his opponent down. With the poise of experience Josh controlled the position from bottom and took a smooth straight arm bar. Josh Long, winner, first round armbar.

After several more well matched fights, the title fight for the 145 lb. belt was announced; Andy Lukesh vs “Dirty” Dave Moreno from BJ Pen’s gym. On paper this fight read like an action film. Two very active and fit fighters were to meet over a belt and bragging rights. Our man Andy was well trained and excited to fight. As promised, this fight exploded from the start. Dave came rushing forward with a flying knee meant to overwhelm, but Andy responded with a leap and a flying knee of his own. Like a scene out of the movie “Matrix” two fighters met in mid-air with a crash of bones and flesh. Both landed well and tried to knock one another other out. Dave threw a spinning back kick that landed, but Andy was too focused to notice or care. After a clinch, Dave was on his back and Andy was kicking his legs. Showing his toughness, Dave turned this bad position into a double leg shot. This shot should have given Dave a big advantage, but his neck came too close to Andy’s grip. Andy deftly set a guillotine choke (the Jetton special) that could not be escaped. Andy Lukesh, winner and new 145 lb. champion, first round choke tap-out at 44 seconds.

Thanks goes out to the warm up crew Richard ”the knife” Fowler, Eric Hemphill, Sebastian Hily, and Ben Henning.

More fights coming, stay tuned.

3. Nutrition For Athletes Concludes Pilot Program - Gearing Up For Fall Session

We are excited as we are gearing up to launch a new program at IMPACT - Nutrition For Athletes (NFA). The mission of NFA is to help folks get a better handle on what many describe as the “missing link” of athletic performance - good nutrition knowledge and strategies. Whether your goal is to decrease body fat or increase muscle mass - we can help you improve your body’s performance through good nutrition, fitness and conditioning, and personal program design.

Here is what some of our participants had to say about the program:

“I really learned a lot. Feedback on our food journals was very valuable and helpful. Now it’s easy to follow the guidelines and I NEVER go hungry!” - Anna Wiktorowicz

“NFA gave me the tools to keep my feeding program going, so I can really achieve the changes I’m ultimately looking for.” Loren Collins

“I learned a lot and will be better served for future training by the knowledge I obtained about nutrition and how to gain muscle mass.” Nic Tyree

An information meeting will be Monday, September 10, at 8 pm. EVERYONE is welcome to attend and find out more about this exciting new addition to the IMPACT curriculum. The NFA program is a 12 week education course that will help athletes of all levels improve the performance through better nutrition.

Stay tune for more info!
