1. Team IMPACT Goes 4 - 1 at Mayhem in Milwaukie Event on Saturday
Team IMPACT took five athletes to the C.C.C.F. event “Mayhem in Milwaukie” on Saturday night. It was a great night all the way around. Great job to all the IMPACT fans that came to support our crew in their BLUE SHIRTS … you definitely made your presence known.
The quick results:
Missy Conklin wins her submission match with a triangle at the 2:34 minute mark of the first round. She looked very impressive. Missy maintained dominant position and control the entire match with an opponent that was over twenty pounds heavier than her. She finished with a determined triangle against a tough opponent … who didn’t want to tap. Awesome job!
Matt Hammen was next on the card for IMPACT in an MMA match. He came out against an amateur boxer and exchange blows. He faired well and then took it to the mat where he settled into dominant control. After taking some bombs from mount bottom, Matt’s opponent bridged and went to his belly … Matt took back with hooks and rear-naked choked for the tap. It was textbook. Great work!
Nathan Wolf submitted his opponent via triangle in 2 minutes in his submission match. It was a clinic … Nathan showed great pose and composure in the ring. Nathan looked at home out on the mat. Solid!
Adam Thomas followed in an MMA match. His opponent came out like a pistol … but Adam settled him down and imposed his will. After body locking him to the match and working half guard top for a while (and landing shots), and worked his way to his opponents head and set in a kimura armlock. It was clean and convincing. Well done! ! !
The last IMPACT athlete to go was David Quinton (who fought the week before at the Roseland). This was by far the best MMA match of the night — going the full 3 rounds / 10 minutes. It was full of action and switches back and forth. David’s opponent was feisty … not letting David settle into a routine or take it easy. It was a battle! David lost in a tough decision … but no shame. He fought well and has a very bright future in front of him.
Great Job Guys! ! !

3. Coaching University
We are proud to announce the creation of Coaching University (CU) at IMPACT and the first accredited coaching curriculum — Coaching Certification - Level 1 (CCL1). The curriculum for CCL1 is specifically designed to help athletes explore the fundamentals of coaching. Upon completion of the course hours and the evaluation process, the certified coach will be qualified to teach classes at IMPACT. Certified coaches will become of a part of the Coaching Pool – run core instructional classes, staff special programs, run gym-endorsed private lessons, coach satellite clubs, and, ultimately, open future IMPACT Jiu Jitsu gyms.
Interested? Talk to Tom or Michael directly or attend our next information meeting:
Wednesday, June 20 at 8 pm at the Newberg IMPACT gym
For an application, click HERE. Applications are due by August 1, 2007.
The first class will begin on Wednesday, September 5, 2007.
You won’t want to miss you opportunity to be a part of this top caliber program! ! !
4. Cubs Club and Summer Camps
Summer Camps: Sign-up Now!
Camp 1 - June 25 - 29 - CANCELLED
Camp 2 - July 16 - 20
Camp 3 - August 13 - 17
Unfortunately we did not get enough Cub sign-ups to run the June Summer Camp. BUMMER! ! !
Hopefully we will get enough for the July and August Camps. Please talk it up to your friends, neighbors, and family members. The camps are definitely great for learning lots of Jiu Jitsu, belt requirements, self-defense, and having a great time.
Also, please note, we will be suspending our Friday classes until September when school resumes. Coach Tom is available for privates and semi-private lessons on Friday. See him to get the details.
Tuitions for a one week camp would be $175 for gym members | $225 for guests. We will do a family rate for 2 or more children. There will also be a special rate for folks who participate in all three camps.
At least 10 participants need to be registered by Monday, July 9, or the July 16 - 20th camp will be cancelled. Register at the front desk of the gym or HERE.
