1. Salem Armory Results: The Full Story
We had 6 fighters ready to go, but David Quinton’s opponent was a “no show”. This can be a problem when you are as good as David, opponents become less brave when they actually have to climb into a cage with the Man.Our first match started the evening out with a bang. Rodney Buswell took a submission only match with very little notice. His opponent was a very good wrestler and out weighed Rodney by about 25 lbs. The match was hard fought, Rodney using a very solid and patient defense against the very aggressive opponent. Rodney attempted several armbars and a triangle choke, and went all the way to the end of the third round when his opponent was able to force an Armbar. Good job Rodney, you’ll get him next time.
Our second fight was another submission only match featuring Newburg’s own Bryan “the beast” Marugg. If you blinked you might have missed a perfectly performed “flying Bryan” armbar that ended the match in 20 seconds. Bryan is a 127 lb, 14 year old stud. His opponent thought he was in for an easy win, but this 6 foot tall, 155 lb, 17 year old got a quick lesson in Impact Jiujitsu, Newberg style.
The 8th fight of the night was a treat, we saw the return of Daniel Krug. His heavy weight opponent was ready to go, and was said to have “good” hands. Well fight fans, good hands are never enough against the multi- talented Coach Krug. Daniel made quick work of his opponent, displaying great hands, great kicks a solid take down and then the mount and pound of doom. Just for fun Daniel decided to show one more dimension and ended the fight with a clean, tight armbar.
Next up was Josh Long in a match with a very skilled 145 lb opponent. Josh had some cardio concerns going into the match, so he paced himself and stayed real focused. The first round was close with Josh suffering a knock down. But round 2 and 3 were all about Josh doing a solid shot to take down, guard pass, then head strikes. His opponent was tough though and the bout when the distance. We were all stunned when the judges came back with a split decision for Josh’s opponent. This turned out to be a judges error, which was corrected with the full support of the promoter and Josh’s opponent. Split decision Josh.
Our last Impact fighter of the evening was Pro Escobedo. This was Pro’s first fight and it was a good one. 3 rounds of non- stop action. We were treated to Pro lifting a slamming (over and over), his more experienced light heavy opponent. Pro looked like a “pro” as he dominated the fight from start to stop. Pro wins by unanimous decision.
Thanks to all for coming out to watch and support the Team.
Special thanks to the prep/warm up staff; Richard “Doc” Fowler, Andy Wong, Marc Daoust, Eric Hemphill, Adam Thomas, and Cory Sutton. You Rock!

2. Lukesh and Daoust both Win in Euguene! ! !

Andy Lukesh beats his opponent with a 2nd round referee’s stopage.
Marc Daoust won in the 1st round with an armbar.
FULL REPORT to follow.
3. Sub-League Event 3
We are now taking registrations for Sub League 07 / Event 3 - Which will be on Saturday, May 5. Pre-registration will close at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, May 1. Go HERE to register.Time Table for Event 3
The rolling registration worked fantastically in Event 2. Athletes MUST register at least one hour prior to their estimated start time. Due to the expected high volume of athletes, we will have to really stick to these times. If an athlete missing a registration deadline, their name will NOT be added to a division. We will try to get them no-league bonus matches, but there are no guarantees.
Athletes must be in the bullpen area 15 minutes prior to the estimated start time.

Commitment to getting folks more matches
We can’t control who shows up to compete. Some divisions will be large, others will be small. Nonetheless, we believe in the importance of flight time and learning. For all athletes who get less than three matches, we will do our best to setup extra / bonus matches (which will not count for athlete’s per match averages or the team points), but they will be great for learning.
We will run four to six rings all day long
Sportsmanship
Our goal is to run a positive, fun, highly competitive tournament. It isn’t surprising that folks get intense and fired up while competing … and that is great. But there are limits.
Just a friendly reminder that hard slamming or excessive clubbing of an opponent will result in an automatic disqualification of the match, and possible the tournament depending on the severity of the infraction. Athletes’ safety and well-being are priority number one.
Talk up event 3 at your respective gyms and come ready to show off your A games! ! ! What will happen? See you there! ! !
