1. Sub League 07

The Pacific Northwest’s premier no-gi submission grappling event is back!
Get ready for Sub League 07, which begins on Saturday, March 3, 2007.

Sub League’s unique format allows for lots of matches, little controversy,
and tons of great grappling. Competing in a pool format (where you wrestle
all competitors in your group), rather than a bracket system (where the
number of competitors is cut in half each round), and having a clear point
system (no points within a match, simply points awarded based on the
outcome – submission or draw) allows the sport to shine.

The Sub League has grown. Last year we had over 265 competitors participate
in our four-event season. We are looking to increase those numbers this
year – in particular within the women’s divisions, youth divisions, and the
newly added novice divisions. With the launch of our third season, we have
worked to make the event even better than before. Here is a list of changes
and added features:

1. www.subleague.com
All the information about Sub League can be found on our website: rules,
divisions, weights, registration fee, online registration, etc.

2. A new ability grouping: Novice Divisions
This ability group had been added specifically for new athletes of the
sport. It is for folks with 6 months or less mat experience. It is a great
opportunity to compete in a safe, non-threatening environment. Thus, we will
have four ability groups: Novice, Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced.

3. More weight classes
Youth (ages 4 - 13) have nine weight class groupings. Teens (14 - 17) have
six weight divisions. Women have three weight divisions. Adults have six
weight divisions. For specific weight breakdowns, got to
http://www.subleague.com/divisions.html.

4. Streamlined, easy-to-follow rules for youth and teens divisions

5. Team competition / team points based on participation and performance

6. Sponsors
ROCKSTAR Energy Drinks, Howard Combat Kimonos, RevGear, the FCFF, CHOK
Fightgear, and Combative Conditioning are our main sponsors. Big thanks to
all of these supporters! They’ve been great.

7. Lower entry fee for adults

8. Northwest calendar of grappling and MMA events
Found on www.subleague.com, is designed to be a place where EVERYONE lists
their up-coming events… so everyone else can know about them and make them.
We hope this becomes a frequently used resource for everyone.

3. When in doubt . . .

The weather conditions were challenging last week, as seen by having to cancel two days instructional classes.

For future protocol, we will follow the Beaverton School District lead in regards to opening / closing. If the BSD closes due to weather, then IMPACT Jiu Jitsu will not be running instructional classes that day.

However, to confirm the gyms opening, you can go to http://impactjj.com/news/ or call the gym’s phone at 503.350.3926. Your safety is our concern … but we will do all we can do to keep the gym open and classes running.

4. No Cubs’ Club Classes this Friday

There will be no Little Cubs class or Black Belt Club (BBC) this Friday, January 26. Sorry for the inconvenience.

5. What People are Saying about Combative Conditioning

“The program is powerfully modifiable… challenging for a very wide variety of athletes, from day one of training and up. Although this set is marketed toward combat athletes, people without a sport would find benefit in it as well… The design from beginning to end is a complete one. You are instructed from the warmup to the cooldown, to recovery on off days, and a short periodization plan…There is a strong emphasis on form and progression. The coaches seem genuinely concerned about your safety and wellbeing.” Doug Dupont - Strength, Conditioning, Nutrition, and Lifestyle Coach; S&C coach for Kenny Florian.

Mike Sweeney - Head Coach, Martial Arts Planet, Kingston Canada “I had a pre-release copy of this set and have the finished product on the way to me now. There is a TON of super valuable info on here guys. We use numerous elements from this set in our conditioning classes and for fight prep.”

“AMAZING work. You have taken martial arts instructional videos to a new level. Keep it up.” Good Kharma Productions

Sam Fisher “…there really is a ton of high quality info on there… Great job guys…high quality, sports specific stuff. I’m really psyched to get started.”

“Amazing product… by far the best conditioning program I have ever seen. Hope to see more CC products on the market in ‘07.” –adamblake007

CJ (bjjprim8) - Certified Personal Trainer; Certified Coach under USA Hockey: Muay Thai and BJJ trainer; Almost 20 years experience in all different types of training. “…I was surprised to see just how good this set is and loved the minimal amounts of equipment needed. I loved the fact that this was geared towards the everyday man … I look forward to future sets by this company because they did a great job their first time out of the gate.”
