2. Long and Phongsavanh competed at Roseland, Gonzalez in SalemOn Saturday, October 28, Josh Long and Matt Phongsavahn fought at the Rumble of the Roseland. Richard Fowler, the gym’s cut man and medical resource wrote on his blog “The gym put in 2 fighters at the last Rumble at the Roseland event last week with heads held high all round. Josh Long and Matt Phongsavanh were scheduled to fight Blaine Nuttall and Gary Leeson respectively.Josh came out strong and despite some heavy hands from Nuttall controlled the first round with a solid Jiu Jitsu game. Unfortunately, shortly into the 2nd round whilst shooting for a double leg, Josh was caught with a hard knee to the right eyebrow which opened up a deep gash and the doctor stopped the fight.Things went better for Matt, who came out and spun his opponent 270 degrees with his first, vicious low leg kick. Matt followed up immediately gaining the clinch, then moving his hands up to sink a guillotine choke from Leeson’s attempt to take him down. Leeson tapped and Matt’s fans, conspicuous by the number of attractive women in their midst, went crazy.A strong performance. Get well soon Josh.”
Adam Gonzales compete at an MMA event in Salem on November 4. It was an intense match, it which he brought a lot of intensity and solid hands and ground game … but, unfortunately, ended up burning himself out. Better luck next time Adam … but NO SHAME … you learn from challenges … you have a bright future. No worries.
3. Cubs Cub Promotions for October
Lots of stripes and belts were given out with the October’s promotions … most notable: Xavier B. - Camo belt, Ted H. - High Yellow belt, and Josh M. - Yellow belt.
Things are really clicking in the Cubs’ Program. Lots of great training, great attitudes, and fun!
YOU GUYS ROCK! ! !
